Blaine P. Dunn
Blaine P. Dunn, CFP®, is a fee-only NAPFA Registered financial advisor with twenty-three years of experience in comprehensive planning and wealth management. For the last nine years, Blaine has managed successfully his own fee-only financial planning practice. Prior to that time, Blaine served as Regional Vice President for a Citigroup subsidiary where he was trained and licensed as a securities principal, registered representative, and insurance agent.
In its most recent survey, Washingtonian Magazine named Blaine as one of the best 35 financial planners in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The Consumers’ Research Council of America also recently named Blaine as one of “America’s Top Financial Planners.” Blaine is a regularly-featured speaker at industry conferences and has been quoted in numerous press publications including Forbes, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, The Washington Post, MSN Money, CNBC, Chicago Daily Herald, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, Richmond Times, Dow Jones News Service, Journal of Financial Planning, Investment Advisor, NAPFA Advisor, and Virginia Pilot.
Blaine is a former national board member for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the premier association of fee-only financial advisors. In addition, Blaine has chaired the National Government Affairs Committee for NAPFA and served as a member of the National President’s Council. Blaine currently serves on the board of the Northeast Mid-Atlantic Region for NAPFA and has served in recent years as the Chair, President, and Treasurer for the Region.
Before entering the financial planning field, Blaine worked as a legislative director for three members of Congress as well as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Rural Electrification Administration. He also directed political campaigns on the local, state, and federal level, taught history, and worked as a technical representative for Union Carbide.
Blaine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution from Clarkson College of Technology and a Master of Arts in Diplomatic History from the University of Massachusetts. He also is a graduate of the College of Financial Planning and has earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
On a personal level, Blaine has been an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout Commissioner, mountaineering expedition leader, Sunday school teacher, varsity soccer player and coach, and refugee relief participant. He also has been a member of a national award-winning chorus and has traveled extensively.

Christy R. Mistr
Christy R. Mistr is a tax attorney and CPA who specializes in retirement, tax, and estate planning issues. Immediately prior to forming Dunn, Mistr Tederick, LLC, Christy served as tax counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. During her time with the Committee, Christy analyzed and developed corporate and individual federal income tax proposals and prepared the Chairman for Committee meetings on developing tax legislation and oversight of the Internal Revenue Service.
In private practice, Christy associated as a tax attorney with the law firms of McKee Nelson, LLP, in Washington, D.C. and McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe, LLP, in Richmond, Virginia. In her tax practice, Christy worked closely with small businesses to develop and implement federal tax strategies, including those related to estate planning. She also counseled large multi-national clients on international joint ventures and negotiated the terms of related agreements. Christy has significant tax litigation experience and has represented clients before IRS Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court, and U.S. Courts of Appeal. As a CPA, Christy worked as an independent auditor for Ernst & Young, LLP, prior to law school.
Christy received her law degree from the University of Virginia, where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Tax Review and a Dillard Fellow, Legal Research and Writing Teaching Assistant. She also was honored to receive the Edwin S. Cohen Tax Scholarship. Christy is admitted to practice in Virginia and in the District of Columbia and is an active member of the tax sections of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the D.C. Bar Association. Christy earned her B.S.B.A. (Accounting), cum laude, from the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond.

Matthew A. Tederick
Matthew A. Tederick has more than twelve years of experience related to investment advisory services and wealth management. Prior to forming Dunn, Mistr Tederick, LLC, Matt was self-employed as an independent investment advisor representative for Linsco/Private Ledger. For LPL, Matt also served as branch manager for four other investment advisor representatives in three office locations including Front Royal, Purcellville, and Lexington, Virginia. Matt’s company managed over $30 million in assets for more than 250 clients and specialized in providing cash flow and budget analysis, loan evaluation, debt management, investment research and portfolio implementation for individual, corporate, and non-profit clients.
Before starting a career in the investment business, Matt was an Army Intelligence Officer and Airborne Ranger. He served in the Gulf War with the United States Army Special Forces and received numerous awards and commendations.
Matt has held numerous government, community, and civic positions. Matt was elected to the Warren County Board of Supervisors and served as Vice-Chairman for four years. He has also served on the boards of the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Warren County Technology Committee (Chairman), Warren County Social Services, Workforce Investment Board (Chairman, Region V), Samuels Public Library, and Marathon Bank Advisory Board. In 2001, Matt received the Local Small Business Veteran of the Year Award. He is actively involved as a coach for his daughters’ Little League teams.
Matt holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Modern Language from the Virginia Military Institute where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate and Prosecutor of the Honor Court. He lives in Front Royal, Virginia with his wife of fifteen years and his three children. |
